Artikelomschrijving
Il Poggione exists already since 1890, when Lavinio Franchesi founded a winery in the hills of Montalcino and started to make wines of the local Sangiovese-clone Brunello. He was the first to launch Brunello di Montalcino on the market. Rosso di Montalcino is Brunello’s little brother. This firm red is made of hand-picked grapes from the youngest parcels with an average age of 15 years old. The wine ripens for 12 months on small barriques and big barrels of 30-50 hectolitre. Afterwards, the wine ripens another 6 to 9 months on bottle. In the nose hints of cherries and chocolate, earthiness and spices. In taste fullbodied and round, yet with pleasant freshness and long aftertaste.
